We are very pleased that they are here because we at ScouseVeg have consumed their yummy produced and cannot recommend them highly enough !
[A quick bio in case you've never heard of them before]
Bute Island Foods – have been manufacturing a range of 9 flavours of hard cheese, originally called Scheese, since 1988.
In 2003, the company changed hands, although it has kept the same ethical view of only ever producing Vegan products. The companies aim is to make the best alternatives to dairy products that it can, to enable consumers who are lactose intolerant or want to be Vegan, to be able to stop eating animal products – without it being a sacrifice.
After an initial period of tuition from the founders of Scheese, to ensure that they new team fully understood the unique process, they retired from the business.
In 2006, sales were fulfilling 90% of production capacity. Expansion was required, and so much time was spent in developing new packaging, and working with machine manufacturers to increase production capabilities and efficiency. In Jan 2007 a new production line was set up with a 100% increase in production levels. The product brand name was changed to Sheese, and now sold in high quality re-sealable packs with much clearer, more colourful labelling. April 2007 saw the successful launch of the new range of Creamy Sheese (a soft spreadable cheese) available in 5 flavours. Installation was completed for a new production line which packs the Creamy Sheese in 255g re-sealable tubs.
