Comment on Relaunced Linda McCartney Food Range - Your Opinions by DH

1. Can anyone post here the ingredients of the Sausages, Country Pies, or any other Linda McCartney product ?

2. Has anyone had the good fortune of trying the Turtle Island Foods "Tofurky" range in America, http://www.tofurky.com ? I have tried many different Vegan deli slices and these were the clear winner. They not only went after taste, they also reproduced texture, and have many varieties. Exceptional.

I have only been able to find their Tempeh in Ireland/UK., and having tried another Tempeh, it is ironically quite a different experience (Vegan Haggis perhaps ?).

I sent an email to Turtle Island Foods suggesting opening a companion European manufacturing facility. Polite email campaign?

Currently Dunnes Stores and Tesco/IE store mostly egg containing Quorn and precious little else.

Other American Vegan treats include Veat (great chicken/veal/pork substitute that makes an excellent Pork Chausseur) and Nates Zesty Italian Meat Balls.

Best Began Sitcom line:

"Next Thanksgiving you can all go Tofurky yourselves!", a "Just Shoot Me" disgruntled host cries at the end of a "The Norman Conquests" type episode.

Went to the Raw Magic talk this afternoon which was very informative but most of all - it was fun! Kate Wood (as Mo called it) in her pink frock, poored out not only good mood but also lots of love and light. It must have something to do with that pink frock...

Sadly I have to agree with you Janet, I'm in Adelaide and have seen no evidence of this either. There are certainly 'cultural differences' in the way the Aussies eat (soya milk is thankfully very popular over here)but Ive seen no evidence of average aussies being more aware of animal rights or environmental issues at all. Often, people seem to drink soya milk or choose veggie food for health reasons rather than because they are making a political or moral statement.

Anyway, if there are any other Australians lurking, check out the Adelaide vegan festival: http://www.veganfestival.info/

And for the scousers, please persuade Mattas to set up a subsidiary down under!

Cheers

Blackburne House cafe bar has such a good selection of vegetarian food as well as meat dishes and the specials change daily. Also they provide gluten free mains and cakes. Really nice informal atmosphere and they are licensed too so we enjoyed 2 courses and a glass of wine each for under £10. Would recommend !

Something went wrong, have to try again!
Could you please post this absolutely awesome vegan website on your website, Nikki. They are also sending out great email news letters, with loads and loads of vegan and raw recipes and all coming from their heart in order to make a difference. I love this website, a must know for all vegans/vegetarians AND none! This is the website address: www.blossominglotus.com

I have lived in Australia since 1990 and I am vegetarian. It is certainly news to me that meat-free days are popular in Australia. I've never heard it mentioned and I've not seen any evidence of it where I live (Brisbane; a city of over 1 million people). I would love it to be so...

I just read the Indy piece. How ironic for a newspaper called the Independent to be very biased and ill-informed on this matter. It certainly does border on sensationalism. I think the only reason they stressed the vegan thing in the title was for a snappy headline.
