Join us for the Scouseveg monthly meeting at The Egg Café in city centre Liverpool.

This is an informal gathering where you can meet some like-minded people. Families welcome!

The Egg Cafe is completely vegetarian and has a good choice of vegan dishes, which range from the spicy veggie burger to their delicious homemade soups. They also have cakes and desserts on offer, some of which are suitable for vegans.

Prices are very reasonable and you can bring you own wine with a £1 charge for corkage. Alternatively, you can purchase juices or hot drinks.

The meetings are held in the upstairs (gallery) area of The Egg from 8pm onwards; look out for The Vegetarian magazine on the table.

There will be a demonstration outside of the Aintree racecourse on Saturday 6th April, from 11.00am to 2.00pm – the day of the Grand National.

Demo against the Grand National – April 2013

A demonstration will take place on the day of the Grand National, Saturday 6th April from 11am to 2pm, opposite the main entrance to the Aintree Racecourse on the A59. This is in front of the Aintree railway station entrance.

Following the death of two horses in 2011, cosmetic changes were made to the fences. This did not prevent the deaths Of ‘According To Pete’ and ‘Synchronised’ in the 2012 Grand National.

For the 2013 race, further very minimal changes to the fences have been made. The start will be 90 yards nearer the first fence so the horses will not be travelling as fast when they hit it, but the field has not been reduced so 40 horses will arrive at the same time. Another possible recipe for disaster!

Fight Against Animal Cruelty in Europe – FAACE – Animal Aid and others will be there.

Please join us and swell our numbers if you can. It will make a difference. Please spread the word as much as you can.

We need to stop this carnage.

Hi, this is Gary Loewenthal with A Well-Fed World , and I want to invite you to participate in the fifth annual Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale (WVBS), April 20 through April 28, 2013.

The WVBS was named “Veg Event of the Year” by VegNews Magazine, and was covered by CNN.com (www.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/04/30/vegan.bake.sale/).

The idea is simple: Groups across the world hold vegan bake sales any time between April 20 and April 28. Participating groups can do whatever they want with the proceeds.

So far, groups around the world have raised close to 200,000 dollars via the WVBS for various worthy causes. Your bake sale can be a fundraiser for your group, or proceeds can go to a local or international charity – you choose.

www.veganbakesale.org has all the details, including a signup form, a schedule of participating bake sales, tons of bake sale tips, and links to thousands of vegan baking recipes. If you can bake, you can bake vegan. The www.veganbakesale.org web site has handy vegan baking tips to get you started.

Holding a bake sale may be easier than you think. Once you finalize your location, the rest is relatively easy. Again, the veganbakesale.org web site has lots of help.

A Well-Fed World coordinates global publicity for the event, and we leverage the event as best we can to get positive press about the bake sales and about the health, environmental, and ethical benefits of a plant-based diet.

You may be able to get funding for your bake sale! Email grants@awfw.org with details of your event to see if you qualify.
