Liverpool music tour for download
An audio tour of Liverpool’s musical heritage has been made available to download free of charge.
The Sound City tour, narrated by Pete Wylie of 1980s band The Mighty Wah!, explores the city’s music scene from the 1960s to the present day.
It takes in sights such as the Cavern Club, the Liverpool Wall of Fame, Jacaranda, Cream, the Philharmonic Hall and Sir Paul McCartney’s LIPA school.
The tour can be downloaded as an MP3 file from www.liverpool08.com.
A downloadable map accompanies the tour.
Pete Wylie said: “I was honoured to be the voice of this tour – Liverpool and music means so much to me.
“I had great fun reading the script. It brought back a lot of memories for me, so I’ve ad-libbed a bit to give people a real feel for the passion we have for music in this city.”
The free guide, produced by the Liverpool Culture Company, is expected to draw in thousands of tourists from around the world.
The route also passes NEMS Music store, which was once owned by Brian Epstein, and the iconic 70’s club Eric’s.
