SCHOOLCHILDREN in Liverpool are in the middle of a fruity drive for fairer trading.
Pupils from Bishop Martin primary school and Calderstones secondary school have been tucking into bananas to celebrate the launch of Fairtrade fortnight which runs until March 11.
Leader of Liverpool city council Warren Bradley said: “As a city, we must take our responsibility for poorer nations seriously which is why events such as Fairtrade fortnight are so important,
“They highlight the need for everyone to buy fairly traded products as we really do have the ability to change people’s lives in the developing world.â€
A series of events will take place at the Liverpool World Museum during the next two weeks.
