Beauty | Travel Makeup Bag

We recently went on holiday to Ireland, spending a week on a boat with my family and cruising up and down the Erne. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty terrible, so we spent much of our time indoors, but it was still great to get to spend time with someone, even if I may have gotten a little competitive over the nightly Phase 10 games….

I’m no good at travelling light, but I do try to limit the amount of cosmetics I take with me – after all, how many different shades of eyeshadow can you need in one week? Instead, I try to pack products that I know I can use every day, that won’t take up too much space and that will be quick and easy to apply in the mornings. I don’t want to spend an hour of each day on my precious holidays putting on my face!

Here’s what I chose to pack for a rainy boating holiday:

Gosh BB Cream

This is currently my go-to foundation substitute. You can read my full review a few posts back!

Barry M Showgirl Mascara

I’ve actually replaced this mascara since my holiday. I purchased it after reading some fantastic reviews, but I think it’s actually the worst mascara I’ve ever owned. It doesn’t really do anything to my lashes at all, and it makes a huge mess when applying. I won’t be purchasing this again!

B. Complete Eyeshadow Palette in Glisten

My everyday eyeshadow palette! I love that you can achieve both subtle and dramatic looks with this palette, and I find the shades really flattering. They apply well and have good staying power, even without a primer.

Barry M Afterglow Light Bronzer

I’m incredibly pale, so a little bit of bronzer is a must for me in the summer. This is my favourite so far, you can read a full review here.

Lunar Lights Harvest Moon Highlighter

Unfortunately, I can’t figure out where this can actually be purchased. This highlighter was in one of my TVK Beauty Boxes and I love it! I apply it to my nose and my cheekbones and blend it slightly with my fingers, and it lends my face such a perfect, subtle glow!

Crazy Rumors Hibiskiss Lip Tint

Another Beauty Box item, this is my favourite lip tint ever. It smells amazing (like love hearts, Jake says) and the colour is fantastic!

Olivia Body Butter

I’m having trouble accessing this brand’s website, but this is another TVK find. I’ve been using it daily to help prevent stretch marks, and so far, my tummy is free of them!

ELF Powder Brush

Unfortunately, ELF are currently unavailable in the UK, although they have promised that their online shop will be up and running again by the end of the summer. Their brushes are very hit and miss, but this particular one is one of my favourites. I use it daily for bronzers and powders.

Real Techniques Shading Brush

This is my favourite eye brush ever. If I could only have one make up brush, this would be it. It deals with all forms of eyeshadow application perfectly, I can’t even begin to explain how much my eye make up has improved since I started using the shading brush!

B. Defined Eyebrow Kit

I’m not quite sure where I stand with this kit. Sometimes it gives me perfectly defined brows, and sometimes I feel like the colouring is all off and it just makes my eyebrows look messy… but maybe that’s just me! It is, however, the perfect travelling companion, as you get a brow brush, application brush, highlighter and setting wax all in one compact.

Lush Snowcake Perfume

This was part of the christmas range two years ago, and I use it almost daily. I hope it comes back this year, I really want to repurchase it!

ELF Maximum Strength Concealer

Another item that’s currently not for sale in the UK, this is my absolute favourite concealer. I still have enough left to last me a few months, but it will be the first thing I repurchase once the new ELF site is up and running!

So there you have it – my holiday make up bag. What are your essentials that have to travel with you wherever you go?
