A message from Caroline Turner:
“Hi, I am about to launch a vegan baking group in Manchester called the
Cake Liberation Front. Our first event is actually in Liverpool on Sunday November 7 from 11am-4pm at the Bluecoat Gallery, School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BX.
We are taking part in the Bed-In series of events to celebrate John Lennon’s 70th birthday and groups will use a bed-in to promote non-violent ideas – in our case cruelty free cooking.
We will be inviting the public to come and have breakfast in bed with us and try a selection of vegan muffins.”

Scouseveg’s monthly meeting at The Egg Cafe in city centre Liverpool. Join us for an informal gathering, and meet some like-minded people. Families welcome! The Egg Cafe is completely vegetarian and has a good choice of vegan dishes as well. Prices are very reasonable and you can bring you own wine but there is a charge for corkage. Alternatively, you can sample the juices or hot drinks available. We will be there from 8pm onwards. We are usually upstairs in the gallery – look for the stairs to the right of the serving counter. Please contact us if you are thinking of attending as we may need to reserve a table (or two)
For the third year the cattery at Freshfields Animal Rescue is organising this big cat-themed scary afternoon for the kids, we hope you will attend and support our work as well as bringing any excitable children you may have to hand….
As well as the listed events, we will be running a juggling workshop, an art workshop, spooky stories sat with the cats, face painting, lots of dance, mime, hopefully puppets, drums and music and we will have bats on site for the kids to marvel at. Alot of the activities will take place actually inside the cat enclosures so the kids can sit with the cats whilst joining in the fun. Its great fun…
* Can you display any of these ads in local shops, libraries, vets, pet shops, work notice boards. If so please call in anytime to the cattery and pick up 4 or 5
* Can you forward this posting onto your friends and any interested parties thus spreading the word
* If you want to get involved in the event, call Dave on 07789624517
Freshfields Animal Rescue is a non profit making animal charity with two rehoming centres, caring for abandoned, abused and unwanted animals. Everyday at least one more unfortunate creature finds itself with Freshfields as its only hope for a future. We tend to any health issues, usually at expense, caring for the animals, nurturing them in the hope that we can re-home them to loving people in the future. Please… help us to help them!
Following the very first veggie vegan buffet food night at Studio 2 a few months back there will be another one.

Message from Niki about an upcoming event at Studio 2 at Parr Street:
“Hi all
The lovely Studio 2 in Parr Street is having its very first veggie/vegan social food night on the 19th July, from 7.30pm.
There’ll be a veggie and vegan buffet at it’s only £5.00 a ticket!
Beers and wines will also be checked in advanced to clarify that they are suitable for veggie/vegan consumption. Bar prices range but you can get a pint of Becks for £3.00 :0)
» Tickets can be purchased from me at the next Scouseveg Monthly Meeting.
» They can also be purchased direct at the bar at Studio 2 from next Friday (3rd).This is a first at Studio 2 and if it’s successful they will keep it as a regular monthly event. They are also open for suggestions if people in the future would like entertainment, singers etc etc.
I will be helping the chef with buffet ideas and only veggie and vegan food will be produced on the night there will be no cross contamination issues.
I can also arrange to send tickets out if you can send a cheque, we would prefer to sell tickets before the event rather than people just turning up so we have ideas of numbers for volume of food.
Please support this event if you can so we can get another place doing regular veggie and vegan food.
For those who have not been its a lovely chilled out bar that does great vegan brekkies!!”

Thanks to Rach who left a comment on the Eating Out page about a recommended venue in deepest Lancs, if you ever find yourself over that way.
This entry updated. As per Colin’s comment below – The Coven Cafe at Wallgate has closed but the Deli is still open.
