First of all – my mother-in-law’s house has proven to have much better photo styling opportunities than my flat. If we lived closer, I’d take all my pictures there!
Recently, I was asked whether I would like to review Oatly milk alternatives, and of course I jumped at the chance. I’ve tried the brand’s milk and cream alternatives in the past, and was quite impressed by them, but then I moved to the UK and they kind of disappeared off my radar.
Recently, however, Oatly have undergone a rigorous packaging makeover (which was highly necessary, in my opinion), and now feature a gorgeous design that makes the product almost too pretty to hide in your fridge or cupboard.
The brand offer several different milk options, including chocolate, organic and plain, as well as their cream alternative. In Sweden, where the Oatly is from, they also sell several other products, including yoghurt and vanilla sauce. I love all things Swedish and have even been teaching myself to speak a few words, so if these products don’t make their way onto the UK market soon you can be sure as hell that I’ll be making up an excuse to visit my favourite country very soon.
I tried three of Oatly‘s drinks: the Organic Oat Drink, the Oat Drink Plain and the Oat Drink Chocolate. I liked all three, but the chocolate flavour was the best for drinking straight as a beverage. The plain drink was also delicious, I enjoyed it in my cereal. We also used it to make pancakes and chocolate chip cookies, both of which turned out great! The Organic drink had far fewer ingredients than the other two, but I found that it didn’t impact the flavour in the least! If organic is important to you, as it is to me, then I would definitely recommend this option, as you’re definitely not losing out on flavour.
I’m not sure whether Oatly will be replacing my beloved almond milk, but I think I will be rotating it into our regular shops. I greatly enjoyed it and could definitely do with adding oats into my diet a bit more often, so this seems like a great option.
Oatly is available at Holland & Barrett, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. The cream alternative costs around £0.79, and the milks range from £1.39 to £1.64.
